Rodeo Queen

Rodeo de Santa Fe and Santa Fe County are combining their contest this year. We are currently accepting applications for the 2014 Rodeo Royalty contest. Queen contestants must be between the ages of 18 and 25. Princess contestants must be between age 13 and 17. All candidates must live within a 50 mile radius of Santa Fe County. The contest will be held Saturday, May 18th, 2013 at the Santa Fe Rodeo Arena. We will be accepting applications until 5:00 May 10th. The contestants will be judged on knowledge of PRCA rodeo, animal welfare, horsemanship, outgoingness, and public speaking. The Queen will receive a $1000 scholarship or a custom saddle, custom made crown, buckle and sash. The Princess receives a custom made crown, buckle and sash. The incoming royalty will be crowned prior to the rodeo June 22nd and will begin their reign immediately. They will be representing Rodeo de Santa Fe and the Santa Fe County Fair at various functions during the year. The 2014 Queen will have the opportunity to compete for State Fair Queen in Albuquerque in Sept., Miss Turquoise Circuit in Las Cruces in Oct., and or Miss Rodeo New Mexico in Clovis in June 2014, Any Interested young women should contact Beth (505) 490-3008 or Terri (505) 417-9380 for applications and information.

Alexandria (Alex) Layne Tapia

Alexandria (Alex) Layne Tapia is the 23 year old daughter of Toni Tapia and the late Michael J. Tapia Sr. She was born and raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is a graduate of New Mexico State University where she earned a bachelor’s in Government and a bachelor’s in History with University Honors. Alex enjoys hunting and the outdoors, barrel racing and riding, and spending time with family and friends. Rodeo and the western way of life has always been a love of hers, and Alex enjoys nothing more that sharing that passion with others. Alex has held many royalty titles over the years, but is most proud of holding the Miss Santa Fe Rodeo Queen title for the past two years. She hopes to continue representing the great sport of rodeo through royalty titles. Alex is very proud and excited to be representing Santa Fe as your 2012 Santa Fe Rodeo Queen!

 

Princess Abigail Woodmansee

Abi-Woodmansee-1Abigail Woodmansee is the 17 year old daughter of Robin and Beverly Reynolds and lives in Espanola,  She is a junior at Los Alamos High School.  This year she is in Santa Fe County 4-H and will be showing a steer and a heifer at the County Fair August 15th.  Abigail is very active in rodeo, competing in barrels, poles, and goat tying. Abigail’s goal is competing for the NM High School Rodeo Queen title for 2013. She plans on attending college after high school in either law enforcement or cosmetology  Abigail is aware of the responsibility of rodeo royalty to promote the sport, work to promote future contests and market the rodeos she represents.  Abigail proudly represents the rodeo community by being the 2013 Santa Fe Rodeo Princess.
